Signs & plaques

All signs made by Trans Stamp except brail signs are laser engraved on high quality plastic unless mechanical engraving is requested. We do not do sublimation or printed paper because in our opinion it does not provide the quality or look of engraving. Engraved content does not wear off, does not become illegible due to scratch marks or fading. Brail signs are mechanically engraved.

All signage can be customized to fit your needs as to shape size and engraved wording. Any image which is recognizable in a black and white format can be engraved on these items as long as a clean image is available for scanning into the computer.

Small signs are made in a number of ways:

1. Mechanical engraving - a rotary bit machine is used to cut away portions of plastic or metal
to form the name and/or logo being placed on the plate or badge.  a sheet of plastic with an
upper and lower color are used. The engraver cuts thru the top layer exposing the second color
on the bottom layer, thus for example giving you a red background with white letters. This
normally leaves small ridges in the engraved area if it is larger then the bit being used.

2. Sublimation - the name and/or logo is printed on a clear material and then bonded to a plastic
or metal backing. This is perfect print or logo reproduction as seen from a laser printer. It is
normally less expensive then engraving because it requires less time.

3. Laser Engraving - A laser is used to burn the name and/or logo into the backing material. As
with Mechanical Engraving, a two color plastic is normally used. However, since the laser is
burning very small pixels from the material it does not have the ribbed appearance in large
areas which the mechanical engraver gives.

4. Cutting vinyl letters or pictures out and placing them on a plastic, wood, or glass sheet.

5. Cutting the letters or picture out of a sheet of material which is glued to a different color
    background.

6. Printing on paper and encasing the paper in plastic or in a frame.
